6 Days: Kilimanjaro Hiking via Marangu Route
Overview
The Marangu route, famously known as the “Coca-Cola” route because you stay in huts and can buy a Coke en route. The Marangu Route is the oldest on Mt Kilimanjaro and is the only route where you don’t camp, but instead stay in communal A-frame huts. Many favor Marangu because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path. However, the short time frame of the route makes altitude acclimatization fairly difficult. The route approaches the summit from the southeast of the mountain.
